Dell uses different serial modules for different chassis generations, and a different slimmer module for Micro Form Factor models. This module is not for Micro (MFF) models and not for laptops.

- Installation means opening the computer. Power off and unplug the system first, and follow Dell’s service manual for your model. The serial port may need to be enabled in the BIOS after installation.

Product Description
The Dell KMW3T is the optional serial port module for selected OptiPlex and Dell Pro, Dell Tower and Dell Slim desktops that ship without a built-in COM port. It adds one DB9 male RS-232 serial port on the rear panel and connects to the serial header on the motherboard. It is useful where an OptiPlex needs to talk to POS equipment, industrial machines, test gear or other serial devices. Please confirm your exact model and chassis type before ordering, as Micro Form Factor models use a different module.
